Happy 137th Birthday

Harry Houdini, world's greatest showman.

In another bit of news related to Harry Houdini, I just learned that Dorothy Young, Houdini's last stage assistant, died on Wednesday at age one hundred-three.

You are welcome mystery guest.  You know, if you put name in the box above the comment box  when you leave a comment I will know who you are.  You don't need to sign in or anything just enter your name.  Of course not wanting me to know who you are may be the reason why you are not doing so in the first place.  ;)

I find it kind of mind blowing that someone who worked with Houdini was still alive until a few days ago.  He is history-- a way back then person.  And all people associated with him should be back there in history, too.  I realize this isn't the most logical thing to think, but somehow this piece of news made my head swim.

Totally understandable, I felt the same way when I read her obituary.

I wonder if she's managed to escape from *that* box yet? ;)

I love those old posters.  Thanks for searching them out for us.

That made me smile.  I have always be a great fan of Harry Houdini every since I saw the 1953 movie, Houdini, at the Saturday kiddie matinee.  Back  then movie theaters could rent older movies from the studios so I saw a lot of older movies in a movie theater. But that movie got me interested in Houdini.  I have the lastest book on Houdini, The secret Live of Houdini, on my bookself right now.
