Who The Hell Do You Think You Are?

You. Yes, I'm talking to you. You, out there in Washington D.C who are supposed to be representing the people of this country. You, who think only you know what is best for the rest of us. You, who have no respect for anyone who does not think the way you do. You, who put your ideological beliefs before the people of this great land of ours. You, who think your personal religious beliefs should guide your political actions. You, who would let this country go under economically rather that give an inch on your egocentric, self-righteous, judgemental principles. You, in the United States House of Representatives, who should get your head out of your you-know-what. You, who have been acting like a petulant child and should take a major time out, I want you to know that this is your come to Jesus moment.

First, let's start with a basic fact, although you were voted into office as a member of a specific political party, you represent all the people in your district. Let me repeat, ALL OF THEM. Not just the members of your party, not just the whites, not just the Christians, not just the rich, not just the men, not just the straights, and definitely not just the business owners. So, part of your job up there on the hill is to make decisions that are fair and balanced. Decisions that do not profit one group to the detriment of another. Decisions not based on ego. Second, and this may be hard for your egocentric little brain to understand, although you were sent to Washington as the representative of a small district, you cannot solely make your decisions based just on what is good for your district, your party, your religion or your prejudices. You have to base your decisions on what is good for the all the people since your decisions affect the whole country as this mess you have created shows us.

Which brings us to another basic fact of life, which is that all decisions made by groups of people are the product of compromise. This is true in families (If you take out the trash, I'll do the dishes.), business (We can't pay you overtime but we can give you time off.) and even crime (If you give me all your money, I won't shoot you.). That last one may be the best example of how you see compromise as that egocentric, self-righteous, judgemental little brain of yours thinks any type of compromise is a betrayal of your principles. Get over yourself . You are not the savior of the country. You are a petty little person who would rather pull this country down around your own ears than compromise, even though the people are telling you to do. I am sure you have heard the saying if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. You, are defiantly part of the problem so why don't you grow up and focus on becoming part of the solution? I'll ask again, "Who the hell do you think you are?"

I love it when you get mad!!! So eloquent and no stammering! I want to say these things but I stutter and am just too conservative! The "Tea Party" will have us all drinking koolaid soon. They are totally incompetent and I believe there is a contitutional way to rid them without waiting for another election! The scary thing, the very scary thing is these people were voted into office!
I would say, "Lord forgive them for they know not what they do," but they will destroy America without firing a shot!

True, that is the problem with being a democracy, stupid people get to vote, too. Still, it is the best form of government since bad voting decisions can be rectified in the next election.

That is such a given when it comes to us lately, I did not think it needed to be mentioned. :)

I strongly suspect that some of them do not realise that there *are* countries other than the US in the world... and I'm sure lots of them have never been to them. It would be impossilbe to have travelled and to still have such blinkered opinions and views, surely?

Well said. It's amazing and defeating to watch this "process." I'm pretty much speechless about the whole thing.

BW, Mark Twain agrees with you:

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” —Mark Twain, 1857

But I think some people can travel and still learn nothing because not only are their thoughts provincial so are their minds.
