I Did Not Know I Needed This Until I Saw It

And what is it?

A 1948/1949 Kenmore Rotary Sewing Machine (Model number 117.959), cabinet, and chair. I fell in love with it once I realized the cabinet drawers were actually the chair.

Waiter Rant

"Hell is other people."
- Jean-Paul Sartre

Waiter Rant, the view from the server's side of the restaurant. I sat down to read a chapter and before I knew it I was about 70 pages into the book. Fair warning, people, you screw over your waiter and she/he will pay you back.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I'm just a sweet transvestite,  from Transexual, Transylvania.
-Dr. Frank-N-Futer- A Scientist

Forty years ago today The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released.

With a bit of a mind flip...
You're into a time slip...
And nothing can ever be the same.

You're spaced out on sensation. HAH!
Like you're under sedation!
Let's do the time warp again!

Sea Queen

The city of Loveland, Colorado has two foundries and metal sculptures scattered all over town.   "Iscariot" by Trace O'Connor is one of the newer ones.  If I had $95,000 to spare (and the space for it) I would buy this in a heartbeat.

Loveland Reporter-Herald article about the installation of the sculpture.

I Am Learning To Sew- Project 23

Sewing Project 23- A liner for my sister's four wheel utility cart. The 6 ties will allow her to attach the liner to the inside of her cart. With this project I learned how using the correct needle and type of thread makes a sewing project go much more smoothly.

Music Is the Soundtrack Of Your Life

-Dick Clark

Fifty-seven years ago today the ABC television network began broadcasting American Bandstand. It was a big part of my preteen and teen years.  Dick Clark had everyone on his show and in this clip from 1967 we have Jefferson Airplane.   I find the interview questions Dick Clark asks after Grace Slick finishes singing to be both amusing and condescending.

I Quit My Book Club Yesterday

Prejudice is the child of ignorance.
-William Hazlitt

Re: August book club meeting

I put this off too long and I apologize in advance for waiting until today to spring this on all of you since I am scheduled to lead the discussion for The Art Forger at the next meeting. I have decided to resign from the book club because of the several anti Semitic remarks I've heard during past book club meetings. I feel if I stayed in the book club any longer I would be condoning the intolerance expressed by these remarks and, frankly, my mother taught me better. I will miss book club and I am sorry to leave but this is something that I cannot let slide.

This Is Playing In My Head This Morning

Earth, Wind & Fire

Do you remember?
The 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Ba duda, ba duda, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay

Now December found the love we shared in September.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
