Who Are You? Who, Who, Who, Who?

When Trump went off script during his Naval Academy commencement address, he repeated himself, rambled, bragged about himself, and, unconsciously, told us a lot about his fears and insecurities :

-Thank you. Thank you. Hello, midshipmen, hello ( Let me say to the entire brigade—please be at ease—enjoy yourselves, because we are all here to celebrate the amazing class of 2018.) Amazing job. Thank you. Really something.

-for the record, this year, Navy beat Army 19 times. And I will not mention, I promised, who won the football game. I will not mention it. I refuse to say it. But that is a great achievement.

-And let me take a guess, you are still not tired of winning. Winning is such a great feeling, isn’t it? Winning is such a great feeling.

- Hello, folks, back there.

-(Victory.) A very important word.

- And we are respected again, I can tell you that. We are respected again. A lot of things have happened. We are respected again.

-(Bruce Voorhees.) Well-known all over.

-(he spent most of his time teaching the city slickers from the east the correct pronunciation of Nevada.) And I had to learn that, too, to win the state. Great place.

-(he was just like you in many ways.) Just like you. Not a lot of difference.

-(and 35) very tough, very well conditioned (Navy SEALs.)

-And in case you have not noticed, we have become a lot stronger lately. A lot.

- No money for the military? Those days are over.

-you have read all about it,

-a $700 billion, largest-ever amount of money to support our great war fighters. And I might add that next year—the $700 billion, not million. They’re liking the sound of million, but billion is better-the $700 billion goes to $716 billion,

-and we are going to be stronger than ever before. We will have the strongest military that we have ever had, and it won’t even be close. And when did we need it more than now?

-That means new ships. You like that. We have now the lowest number of ships we have had since World War I. And very soon, we are going to get to 355 beautiful ships. That is almost a couple of hundred more ships. So you will be around for a long time. We are not running out of equipment. We’re not running out of ships. And that has been approved. And we are honored by it.

--(You are going to have new equipment, and well-deserved pay raises. We just got to a big pay raise for the first time in 10 years). We got to a big pay increase, first time in over 10 years. I fought for you. That was the hardest one to get. But you never had a chance of losing.

-We are going to take care of our veterans. We are doing a great job with it. We are taking care, finally, after decades, we are taking care of our veterans.

- (We passed VA accountability.) Everybody said it could not be done. If you didn’t do a good job, ou could not get fired. Now, you don’t do a good job and take care of our veterans, they will look you in the eye and they say, “Jim, you’re fired! You’re out! Out!” Get him out of here. They all said you could not get it. They tried to get it for 35 years. We will say, “Get him out of here, he doesn’t take care of our vets.”

-And hopefully, we never have to use all of this beautiful, new, powerful equipment. But you know, you are less likely to have to use it if you have it and know how to work it. And nobody knows how to work it like you.

-(Victory, winning,) beautiful words, but that is what it is all about.

-(We are rebuilding our defense industrial base to forge American iron, aluminum, and steel,) which, by the way, we just put tariffs on when it comes in from other countries. Okay? We are taking in a lot of money now, our country. They pay that big, beautiful tariff and it goes right into building new ships.

-(Don’t give up the ship.) Famous phrase. We even use it in business. Things are going bad, you say, “Don’t give up the ship.” Keep fighting. Don’t give up the ship. But it’s really—you guys started it.

- (“Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead.”) Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

- What should I do? What should I do? I’ll stay. I’ll stay. I will stay.

This Little Light Of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine

I followed this car for a couple of miles at lunchtime and we finally got stopped by road construction. Now you know why America is so messed up. It's because we are messed up. Those who love and admire Jesus are aggressive, hateful, and dismissive as hell. The irony is they do not see the irony in that.

Where Have All The Children Gone?

I took a bus down to Denver Saturday for the March For Our Lives and the driver on the bus back shared his views on gun control (against) with some of the people on the bus. I was only half listening to him. At one point he started talking about human trafficking and said 1,800 kids a day disappear in Colorado. I got out my phone and did the math: 1,800 kids/day x 365 days/year = 657,000 kids/year. This, according to the US Census Bureau, in a state were the number of children between the ages of birth to 17 is 625,190. If what he said was true, I think we would notice. People have got to start questioning the crap they are being told.

It's Time To Be Rude, Crude, And Socially Unacceptable

Dear Donald Trump,

If money, power, and having what you think are hot women is not enough to quell your fears about the size of your penis, what makes you think dropping "the mother of all bombs" on Afghanistan will do it? You are a sad, sad, man.

Sincerely,

Colleen Shannon

Leaked Draft of Trump’s Religious Freedom Order Reveals Sweeping Plans to Legalize Discrimination

The four-page draft order, a copy of which is currently circulating among federal staff and advocacy organizations, construes religious organizations so broadly that it covers “any organization, including closely held for-profit corporations,” and protects “religious freedom” in every walk of life: “when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts; or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”'
THE NATIONAL

Most Americans do not approve of Sharia Laws (Laws based on religious beliefs.) or the countries, like Iran, that govern under them. In fact it terrifies them. But they do not seem to have any problem with Sharia Laws if they are based on Christian religious beliefs. These same people will tell you they love the Constitution, this country, the American Flag and what it it stand for. Do you know what that makes those American? Lying hypocrites.

An Open Letter To My State Representative Steven Humphrey

Dear Representative Humphrey,

I woke-up this morning to the news that your Colorado Freedom of Conscience Protection Act has died in committee. I was saddened and confused by this as the law would have only protected the religious rights of every citizen of Colorado.

As Christian I would have no longer have to do business with Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, or Transgender people since The Holy Book says that, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Of course those words are in the Old Testament and not the New Testament which means Jesus never said them, he said things like, "Love thy neighbor" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” But those other words are in The Holy Book so this makes my actions righteous.

As a Jew I would have no longer have to do business with any menstruating woman as the Torah says menstruating women are unclean for seven days. Of course, as a Christian I would have been able to do the same thing as the Torah is really the Old Testament and a part of The Holy Book. In fact, since I cannot really tell whether or not a woman is menstruating, I would not have done business with any women all.

As a Hindu I would have no longer have to do business with anyone wearing leather shoes, clothing, a watch with a leather strap, or anyone carrying a leather bag, suitcase or briefcase as cows are sacred to me. I would also not have done business with anyone who walked into my business eating a McDonald's hamburger.

As a Druid I would no longer have to do business with anyone who puts up a Christmas tree as trees are sacred to me. I would have also had the right not to do business with anyone who puts up a fake Christmas tree since that person would only be mocking my beliefs.

As a worshiper of the Ngen I would no longer have to do business with anyone who defiles nature. Woe to you who treat nature with no respect and molest the animals with in it. There are not many of us Ngen worshipers but those of us will probably be working for the Parks Service. I wouldn't want to be you on the day I work the entry gate at Rocky Mountain National Park. If you try to come in the west entrance, you will be stuck in a line of vehicles that reaches back to Granby.

As for the supposed negative effects to our economy that opponents of this law presented, how many gay or lesbian or bisexual or transgender or female or leather wearing or McDonald's hamburger eating or Christmas tree puter- uppers or nature defiling tourists really come to Colorado to ski, visit the parks or attend conventions? Not that many, I'll bet!

What the people who are against this law do not realize is that passing it would have helped end terrorism and improved our relationship with the Islamic States. Once the Islamic people learned that we had passed a religion based law, just like one of their Sharia Laws, they would have known that we as a people are righteous.

Allah, I mean, God be with you,

Colleen Shannon

PS Since President Trump will soon be closing down all social media to prevent people from criticizing him I will be sending you a copy of this letter by snail mail.

Happy New Year, 2017!

I'm not fooled by the innocence symbolized by the angel children. I know the bats represent what it is really going to be like in this country this year. If you look closely at the face of the angel riding the closest bat on the left, you can see that he or she knows it, too. Fasten you seat-belts, little children, it's going to be a bumpy year.

I remember this photo as it was seared into my brain at the time.  It is still shocking and NPR writes about it today.

Humans of New York

“I was taking a law school admissions test in a big classroom at Harvard. My friend and I were some of the only women in the room. I was feeling nervous. I was a senior in college. I wasn’t sure how well I’d do. And while we’re waiting for the exam to start, a group of men began to yell things like: ‘You don’t need to be here.’ And ‘There’s plenty else you can do.’ It turned into a real ‘pile on.’ One of them even said: ‘If you take my spot, I’ll get drafted, and I’ll go to Vietnam, and I'll die.’ And they weren’t kidding around. It was intense. It got very personal. But I couldn’t respond. I couldn’t afford to get distracted because I didn’t want to mess up the test. So I just kept looking down, hoping that the proctor would walk in the room. I know that I can be perceived as aloof or cold or unemotional. But I had to learn as a young woman to control my emotions. And that’s a hard path to walk. Because you need to protect yourself, you need to keep steady, but at the same time you don’t want to seem ‘walled off.’ And sometimes I think I come across more in the ‘walled off’ arena. And if I create that perception, then I take responsibility. I don’t view myself as cold or unemotional. And neither do my friends. And neither does my family. But if that sometimes is the perception I create, then I can’t blame people for thinking that.”
