Donald Trump, Making America Great!

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

In the UK we thought that nothing could be worse for the US than the various incarnations of the Bush Dynasty.

And then Trump was invented...

Sadly the view abroad is that 'most Americans' are like him. Even without being elected he is doing a lot of harm to your country.

Jerry- Yes, people do. As George Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Blue Witch- Agree and not surprised that the view abroad is thus. From what the media here show, how could you not think so?

I've just watched a UK-made film about how DT is going around the world building huge golf complexes in highly environmentally sensitive areas, with utter contempt for local opinion, or scientific evidence for how bad his plans are for the environment. Scotland, Dubai, Croatia, and now Ireland.

The man is the capitalist dream (corruption and bribery included) and every sort of bigotry, incarnate.

What chance do you think he has of becoming your next President? Scary scary prospect.

Don't know but I am comforted by the fact the election is a year off. One year in election time is the same as one dog year. I do know the Republican Party is now terrified that DT will become their presidential nominee making a Democratic win a given. The other Republican candidates are backing away from him like you would a rattlesnake at this point. The funny thing is that the Republican party has fanned the flames of hatred and shown nothing but scorn for anyone who does not think the way they do for the last 14 years. This lack of respect for others led to a boor like DT becoming a candidate and now they can't control him. Talk about reaping what you sow.
