True, Jerry, as Pogo said, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

Ain't that the truth!

too true and too sad. It's not just what they did. It's that Americans seem to condone it. It won't be better when Republicans run it all-- not that I am proud of Dems either right now

What's that other saying, evil triumphs when good men do nothing?

But, compared to what is done by the 'victims' to even their own people (let alone the rest of the world), all this pales into insignificance, surely?

And as for wars between the West and the rest of the world - why the hell are we getting involved in things we can't possibly ever understand. Their cultures and belief systems are so utterly different to ours that the only end result of the misunderstandings will always be the current world situation. There's no 'winning' for anyone, now.

What is the current status of G-Bay?

My ancestry is Swiss and they don't ever seem to have these problems. I agree with Blue Witch.

Ok, this is the third time I have tried to leave a comment here. Let's see if it works today.

BW, I believe torture is wrong no matter what the reason. A government that tortures it's enemies will at some point decide it is alright to torture it's own people. That, as you point out, is happening right now in the Middle East.

Agree with you on the West getting into wars with no idea of what it is doing.

Guantanamo is "closed" with about 136 prisoners still there. Yeah, I don't understand it either.
