| For Christmas my sister gave me something I did not know I wanted until I saw them, vintage button sample cards. These are from the 1930s and 1940s. Some are metal (lower left), some are ivory (top) and some are that newfangled product plastic (lower right frame and lower right card in frame at lower left.). They now hang over my sewing machine. |

I love those old sewing notions too, and always buy them when I see them. Sadly, there are fewer and fewer around.
My Patchy Ladies give me their old wooden cotton reels, and laugh at my delight in them.
I am looking for a pair of bird (stork, I think) shaped embroidery scissors myself. I've seen modern reproductions but they have been cheaply made so I just pass them by.
