I Did Not Know I Needed This Until I Saw It

And what is it?

A 1948/1949 Kenmore Rotary Sewing Machine (Model number 117.959), cabinet, and chair. I fell in love with it once I realized the cabinet drawers were actually the chair.

Beautiful.

A Horn Sewing Cabinet long before the Australians invented those.

But, did you buy it?

That's a wonderful old machine. I have a collection of vintage Kenmores and I'm very fond of them. My very first own machine was a Kenmore 158-14001 that Mom and Dad gave me when I graduated high school (I'm ancient). They are so sturdy, functional and dependable. And a few that I own can do almost as much as modern machines.
The cabinet design is remarkable. Many years ago, my husband had one similar to that made for me - the sweetheart! It wasn't as pretty but I loved it until I was working on a huge project and sitting on the chair for a long time. My back got very sore, the seat was so hard (even with a cushion) and I kept banging the sides of my legs on it that I had to give it away. I felt so badly for hubs, but he understood. Hopefully yours is much more comfortable and it IS quite beautiful!
