Two Day After The Election

I've been reading all sorts of opinions about how Trump won the election. Some say it's the millennials fault for not voting. Some say it's fault of white women who voted for Trump. Some say it's the far-left's fault for voting for candidates who they knew could not win. Some say it's Gary Johnson and Jill Stein's fault for running in the first place. Some say it's the fault of the people who did not vote at all.

Let's put the blame where it squarely belongs, on the 59,427,652 people who voted for Trump and an electoral system that is a failure. A system which lets the candidate who doesn't actually lead in number of votes cast win the election. But the electoral system is a side issue in all of this. The main reason Trump is presidential- elect is that 59,427,652 people, who said the wanted change, voted for a man and party that are part of the system that they say they detest.

Fasten your seat belts, people, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Yeah, well a lot of those (who read wikileaks anyway) voted for a woman they felt was dishonest, cheated and valued money too much. This was about only 17% of Americans who were excited about their candidate-- probably divided too. The rest of us voted for the lesser of evils. I blame a lot of the hysteria right now on an out of control media who slanted coverage, was proud of thinking they could determine the next President and forgot they were supposedly journalists. Instead of covering both sides' failures, they only hit on his. I doubt they have learned a thing from it either. I am madder at them than the voters who supposedly voted 'wrong' or the candidates, who were both flawed. The media failed us and those who counted on it to be honest with them are the most upset right now filled with rage and fear. (I figure grieving is acceptable with a loss especially for those who voted purely on her being a female). Facebook was intolerable yesterday as I had to hide post after post from those who were sore losers and ready to condemn anyone who voted the 'wrong' way. Hopefully, it'll settle down but people said they had friends, who they thought were real time friends, unfriend them over it. The insults flowed liberally from supposed enlightened liberals. Grieve yes, if you had a major disappointment but blaming those who disagree with you means this is only going to encourage anarchy. Even though I voted for her, I did it based on issues and not emotion. That means I won't be happy what he's going to do but then the right wasn't after Obama got elected either...

I totally agree with Rain.

It was the media who swung and slanted it, as it always is these days.

But, you now have the world's first leader chosen by 'reality TV'.

That said, in my professional experience, I've often found that once control freak bullies get to be in charge, they have the power they crave and start being quite sensible.

Not holding my breathon this occasion mind, but, it's a thought.

I have a friend who told me that her husband is currently looking to buy shares in a brick making company somewhere along the Mexican border. And I'm not sure that he is joking either.

I'm trying not to appear smug at having correctly predicted the outcome. But I do have an American friend (she's lived here for 30 years, but goes home for 6 weeks a year to see her family) who filled me in, in glorious detail, about the vagaires and workings of the US election system. Oh, and, the Clinton's shady, hushed up by questionnable legal methods, business dealings too.

The world is going to be an interesting place in the next months and years.
