Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Steve was a staffer who worked for me after I had already won the nomination by defeating seventeen candidates, often described as the most talented field ever assembled in the Republican party.
Now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isn't as easy as I make it look. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory, which was delivered by the forgotten men and women of this country. Yet Steve had everything to do with the loss of a Senate seat in Alabama held for more than thirty years by Republicans. Steve doesn't represent my base—he's only in it for himself.
Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was. It is the only thing he does well. Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books.
We have many great Republican members of Congress and candidates who are very supportive of the Make America Great Again agenda. Like me, they love the United States of America and are helping to finally take our country back and build it up, rather than simply seeking to burn it all down.
-Donald Trump
Short version:
"We have many great Republican members of Congress and candidates....helping to finally take our country back and build it up, rather than simply seeking to burn it all down."
-Donald "Nero" Trump, right before he and GOP Congressmen started to spontaneously ignite.

The scary thing is that the American people must have known what he was like before they elected him - it wasn't as if he was unheard of!
Yeah, well, we also elected Bill Clinton and knew he was a philanderer at the least and probably an abuser. Looking at what he did with North Korea and China, doesn't make me proud of that vote. Worse, I voted for Hillary knowing she had attacked those women who had come forth (one with rape charges) and she continued to defend him by saying it was a long time ago (if it was)-- basically enabling. I don't think, on either side, we can be proud-- if we are honest. People vote for their tribe and try to justify that any wrong their person has done is different... Uh huh.
BW- If you want to understand the election of Trump, study Kansas. Voters there were the bellwether for the national election. We are talking about a group of people who consistently voted against their own interests just so they could punish those who they thought were "feeding off the government teat" with their tax payments. People who got their news from FoxNews, people who believed Hilary Clinton was the devil incarnate and the Democratic Party evil. Add a political party who thinks wining is more important than having any sort of principles, an American public who thought voting wasn't an important part of democracy, and a national election system that doesn't reflect the popular vote. Throw in a society going through some major cultural changes and you end up with a perfect storm that created a Category 5 hurricane named Donald Trump.
You expressed exactly how the left sees the right. I won't go into all of how the right sees the left but it's about a lot more than the issues you expressed. The right believes in old values that they felt were being destroyed by those who had no sense of responsibility. The left now sees the right as destroying all they've worked to build up with a 'progressive' president (whatever that means).
Neither extreme has an respect for the other, with the middle varying who it supports, depending on a situation at the time. I used to call myself a liberal but right now I have no more use for the far left than I do the far right. I feel like I have no party representation yet I have to vote and do-- because I always did. Not hard to see why so many don't.
A good example was ACA which profited pharmaceuticals and ended up with rapidly escalating medical bills, huge premiums and copays for many in the country. Imagine paying $5000 a month for insurance for a couple with no pre-existing conditions. I know the left blames that all on the right but they had the power for two years and this is what they came up with...
Truthfully I envy true believers in one side or the other. It makes life so much simpler to assume one side is always right and go along with it-- whether that's CNN/MSNBC or Fox. I wish I could be but I am totally disillusioned and don't find it hard to believe people could have voted for Bernie and then Trump because they wanted to break the stranglehold the elites had on the party.
in my opinion, it's really not all about Kansas and it's not all about some voting against their own best interests-- It is what are their own best interests?. I say that here, assuming you have all lefties who read here. Most Americans are in bubbles and it's what makes us think as we do. It's painful to be outside a bubble and find out not everybody thinks as we do and yet they are good people. It's easier to see one side as communists and the other as white supremacists.

As an outsider, whatever he may or may not have done, to the rest of the world Obama was at least respectful of/to others. I still don't understand how he got the Nobel Peace Prize.
15 years ago, back in the early days of BW, I remember saying that I could not see how the economists predictions of China being the world's richest and most powerful country by 2050 could ever come true.
Despite recent US growth figures (which I suspect are largely off the back of what Obama left behind) Trump has brought that date forward several years. If the world ever gets to 2050 with DT and KJU in North Korea playing 'my willy is bigger than your willy' with nuclear button sizes.
Blue Witch-- clearly that prize is, at least now, political-- probably, regarding Einstein and the Pulitzer he was denied for year, it always was.
