We have a neighbor who has been in my house. Who is a dog person. Whose wife died a year ago and who we emotionally supported for the last year. He is now flying a Don't Tread On Me flag and the Betsy Ross flag. Either he is a white supremacist or he hasn't a clue to what it means. Either way, I'm shunning him.

I work with a white middle class man who said recently that there was no such thing as"white privilege", only wealth privilege. I thought to myself when I heard this, how ignorant he is. Being a white middle class man, he has never had to face any other kind. I am a white middle class woman and have at least faced male privilege, but have never faced what my fellow citizens of color have faced. We have to start seeing our fellow citizens as just that, FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS. If we can't do that, we are doomed. It's the only right thing!
The problem is not that they don't see us a fellow human beings, they do see us as fellow human beings. They just don't see as fellow human beings that are equal to them. Having a penis makes them better than us, being white makes them better than us, and being Christian makes them better than us.
I guess I should have added EQUAL fellow human beings because that is exactly what I meant. And to be sure, there are some that don't consider those that are different as humans. That's what happened in Nazi Germany. And also, those that feel that way may think of themselves as Christian, but they are as far from what Christ taught as they can be.
